About the VERC
The Volte Equine Reproduction Center was founded in 2009 by Dr. Ali Hawkins after months of
considering the project. A need for specialized reproductive services was seen and the VERC was set up
to meet those needs. While some reproductive services were offered through our main branch of North Wind Equine
the VERC is taking over those services and offering many more. The VERC is also housed with North Wind Equine on the grounds
of the Draft Plantation in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA.
About the Staff
Ali Hawkins
Dr. Hawkins founded North Wind Equine in March of 2008 she got her license. After operating North Wind for almost 1 1/2 years
she decided to focus more on reproduction, her passion. Thus the creation of the VERC. After spending several years traveling
the world to apprentice with some of the best veterinarians, Dr. Hawkins settled down to create The Draft Plantation and devote
time to her string of world reknown horses. But the lure to veterinary medicine kept calling. So in March of 2008 she opened
North Wind Equine. After sucessfully serving the Volte Community and seeing to the need of the horses she decided to make the
jump and persue her love of Equine Theriogenology.
Prudence Merryweather
You will see Prudence running around the farm often. She is the general manager of North Wind Equine and now the VERC.
After meeting Dr. Hawkins in New England at a clinic where she was a vet tech she accepted the job to manage the clinic and keep
Dr. Hawkins in line. We all love Prudence and are nice to her because she keep everything running so smoothly. Prudence also keeps
some horses at The Draft Plantation and shows them along with Dr. Hawkins string.
